What is Reflexology?
Simply put it's a foot (or hand) massage. By using a technique known as Deep Compression Massage the therapist works over all the surfaces of the foot. The therapist is looking to remove crystals of uric acid and calcium deposits which may have built up in the feet. The circulation of both blood and lymph are stimulated, as are all the internal organs. The glands of the endocrine system are brought into balance and the neurological system is relaxed.
Some benefits of Reflexology
The holistic approach
Until relatively recently practitioners of reflexology adopted an approach that was purely physical. Reflexology was seen as an effective way of dealing with physical ailments, but little thought was given to the emotions. These days a more "holistic" view is taken, recognising that the emotions and mental attitude have a direct effect on the physical body and vice versa. Negative thoughts generated by time restraints, work pressure or worrying about personal problems can have a great impact on a persons feeling of well-being. It is by treating a person on all levels that balance and harmony is restored.
Taking control
Your health is firstly and foremost your responsibility. In China a doctor only receives payment if a patient remains fit and healthy. It's quite different in this country. We are used to handing over responsibility to the doctor. By taking responsibility back we move from the reactionary to the preventative. The benefits of this are obvious, by receiving regular reflexology treatments you are making a positive decision to maintain and improve your health.
A straightforward, no-nonsense remedial therapy that is non-intrusive, gentle and very effective.
A Bowen Technique treatment affects the body in ways which promote healing, pain relief and recovery of energy. The experience of the treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing and it is these features which make The Bowen Technique so unique.
Osteopaths, chiropractors, sports therapists and physiotherapists are among the many professional practitioners who use The Bowen Technique and all who practice it are continually amazed at the effectiveness of this simple and gentle form of "hands on" therapy.
What is Indian Head Massage?
The traditional Indian head massage practised by women in India was restricted to the head and hair. This has now been extended to include the neck, shoulders and upper arms. Indian head massage is a safe, simple, yet effective therapy that not only promotes hair growth, but also provides relief from aches and pains. It is renowned for relieving symptoms of stress.
How Does it Work?
The head neck and shoulders are important energy centres within your body, if you are feeling stressed or angry, tension tends to accumulate. The tension can later show up as a stiff neck and shoulders, eye-strain and sometimes even hair loss. Indian head message involves working with a firm and gentle rhythm to help unknot blockages and relive this uncomfortable build-up of tension. However its effect is not just physical, it works on an emotional level too, calming the spirit, promoting relaxation and relieving stress.
