My Path So Far

Hi! my name is Mike, I am a Reiki Master/Teacher. I am listed on the register of preferred Reiki teachers of the International Guild of Professional Practitioners. Like many others, my introduction to Reiki came at a time when I needed it the most.

I had been working in a very stressful environment for many years and for at least the last three, I spent more time wishing my life could be different than I was actually doing my work.

Eventually the inevitable happened and I became ill. To be honest I didn’t feel I was ill, I felt angry, angry at everyone and everything. But slowly I descended into a world of anxiety and depression. It was after many months of feeling like this that my wife came home from work with a telephone number for a therapist.

I made an appointment and duly attended for my first experience of complementary therapy. I was asked to lay on a treatment couch, and she placed her hands over my eyes. I spent the whole time wondering what she was doing, but at the end I knew something had changed.

Shortly after this I took my level 1, apart from feeling very tired after the workshop, I felt no different. But my life started to look lese daunting, and I felt more optimistic than I had for years.

Not giving Reiki the credit for this upturn I enrolled on a Reflexology course and this brought my into contact with a number of Reiki practitioners. Through listening to their experiences with Reiki I felt I was ready to do my level 2.

The upturn I mentioned earlier continued and on completing my Reflexology training my wife, who by now had become a qualified Aromatherapist, and I decided to move from the South Wales valleys to West Wales and work as therapists.

Using Reiki in my clinic for three years gave me the opportunity to witness the changes Reiki can bring about in others, as well as the continual improvements in me. I had been asked many times to teach Reiki and after three years I felt I had lots of experience to share with others. I believe that we should always try to do everything to the best of our ability, so I enrolled on a two year teacher training course to give me the skills needed to deliver the highest standard of training I can.
